PRESSURE TREATED TIMBER: Pressure treatment is a lifetime preservative treatment. The preservative is forced deep into the timber under pressure in a vacuum and penetrates below the surface. All other treatments apply a coat of stain to the surface of the timber only. With pressure impregnated timber, the chemicals are permanently bonded to the cell structure of the wood at a molecular level. Tanalith E is a widely used water based version so pressure treated wood is often described as tanalised. Pressure treated wood is almost colourless except for a slight green tint caused by the copper content in the preservative. No further preservative treatment is ever needed. However, if you want a coloured finish you can paint over pressure treated or tanalised wood with normal wood preservative in any colour.

TIMBER SLATTED ROOF: This attractive and durable timber roof is ideal for a garden gazebo. It requires little or no maintenance, it provides shade and it can withstand a light shower or even a heavy downpour for a short while. The roof features prefabricated panels which are fixed into substantial hip rafters. Cover battens to each side of the panels reduce rainwater penetration at the edges. The roof angle and the overlapping roof boards ensure that most rainwater drains away. In prolonged rain some moisture may seep in and drips may occur. Sealing with silicone or mastic will further improve the waterproofing, for example at the edges of the roof panels. The timber is pressure treated so it will last well even if it is never treated from new.

HEXAGONAL BUILDING SIZES: For ease of reference these hexagonal gazebos are measured as a rectangle. The first dimension listed is the overall width from side to side and the second dimension is the depth from front to back. The overall width is measured at the widest point from corner to corner. The depth is measured at the narrowest point from wall centre to wall centre. The external wall sizes are listed alongside the price. These sizes do not include the roof overhang. Many other suppliers quote the overall roof size which is much larger.
